At the same moments the above scene takes place, there are many children in Haiti without beds, without blankets, without a favorite stuffed animal to hug. For most of these children, today wasn’t a day where children colored, played music, or read their favorite books. Some moms and dads didn’t kiss their children good night. They have lost their homes, have no food, or any fresh water to drink. Some have lost their husbands, and cannot look upon the bright future that tomorrow will bring. They aren’t listening to their favorite story on tape as they drive into work tomorrow, they only here the sounds of suffering around them.
You’ve seen the footage, you’ve seen the suffering, and for most we sit there and wonder, “How can we help?” Well there is something we can all do. First and most important thing you can do is pray for these people, and believe that God is in control. When something horrific like this happens we sometime loose our focus and forget that God is in control at all times.
Second, you can donate what your family can afford to give. Don’t worry about the amount, just give something. **As little as $ .30 can buy a meal! There are so many ways to go without a little to give so big! Every dollar counts. I suggest you get the children involved and see if they can contribute from their little banks!
Money Saving Mom, along with so many other bloggers are doing what they can do to help. We are using our blogs as a way to encourage everyone to help no matter how big or small.
If you own a blog, please consider blogging about how to help and encourage all your readers to join in. If you post anything on your blog on how you are planning to help, please come back here and leave a link/comment and let us know.
From now until Jan. 21, 2010, our family will
donate $ .25 for each reader that links up/leaves a comment about
how they are helping. **While $ .25 doesn’t seem like a whole lot, you will see how much it can ad up! *Remember $ .30 buy someone a meal.
**I know all of my readers are GREAT! Let’s pull together at this time as a sense of community and get food, clothes, shelter, and medical needs to those in need!!!
If you don’t have a blog, leave a comment. For those of you who have blogs, please continue to use your blog to encourage others to help.
