Frugal Living and Having Fun is an independent website about frugal living, budgeting, saving money and affordable family fun. This page explains how our articles are made, which sources we rely on, and how to reach us if something is wrong.
How we choose topics
We write about the questions readers actually ask. We prefer fewer, more complete guides over many thin pages, and we regularly merge or retire articles that no longer meet our standards.
How articles are written
Articles are published under the pen name Laura Bennett. We use AI writing tools to help research and draft them. Every draft starts with a research step that looks for authoritative sources first, and the links we cite are checked to make sure they point to real, live pages. We do not let the tools invent sources, statistics, prices, test results or personal stories, and we do not claim to have tested a product unless we say exactly how.
Our sources
When we cite facts or guidance, we look for:
- government agencies (such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the FTC, the USDA and the Bureau of Labor Statistics),
- official pages of the companies, programs and services we write about, for prices and terms,
- universities, extension services and recognized nonprofit organizations.
We avoid using forums, social media posts or other blogs as evidence. When information is limited or mixed, we say so.
Keeping content up to date
We review and rewrite older articles when better information becomes available, when a page is incomplete, or when readers point out a problem. Updated articles show the date of their last update.
Advertising and affiliate links
This site shows ads and some pages contain affiliate links (for example to Amazon). If you buy through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Prices and deals change often: always check the current price and terms before you buy. We do not publish sponsored posts.
Corrections and feedback
If you find an error, an outdated fact or a broken source, please use our contact page. We review every report and correct the article when it is wrong. Please also read our financial disclaimer.
